History

Assynt has a rich history - and a complex cultural past. Sites throughout the parish can be visited - and many now have interpretation displays to enhance visitor understanding.

Most recently the ruins of Ardvreck Castle and Calda House - on the shores of Loch Assynt - have been consolidated to prevent further deterioration in their condition.

The Old Parish Church at Inchnadamph has been restored and now contains an explanation of much of this history.
